Report Operation Completions, Rejections, and Scrap Efficiently Using Industrial Handheld Devices
In manufacturing environments where operators are not tied to a specific equipment or a workstation, it is common to use industrial handheld mobile devices to report production activities. The use of handheld devices offers flexibility, convenience, and faster reporting in real time. With this update, operators can perform operation completions from mobile devices, including industrial handheld devices. Operators can:
- Scan or enter quantities for operation completions and rejections.
- Track production progress in real time.
- Eliminate the need to be present at a fixed location to record information.
- Perform operation completions on standard and nonstandard work orders.
- Perform completions on serialized and nonserialized items.
You can also access Mobile Manufacturing UIs from Quick Actions under Production Reporting.
While searching for the work order operation and assembly serial of any serialized work order, the user can scan the work order or serial number. If the organization is License Plate Number (LPN) enabled, the user can specify the LPN details while completing the product. You can also access Mobile Manufacturing UIs from Quick Actions under Production Reporting.

Business Benefit
- Improved Data Accuracy: Capture operation completions at point of activity, minimizing errors associated with delayed or batch reporting.
- Enhanced Visibility: Gain real-time insights into work order progress, which helps support better decision-making and proactive issue resolution.
- Greater Flexibility: Allow shop floor personnel to work seamlessly using sturdy, industrial handheld devices that support various manufacturing environments.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
The following functions are not supported when reporting operation transactions using handheld devices:
- Reverse to Ready is not supported.
- Backflush material details are not displayed while performing the operation transaction. Backflush happens automatically for materials that are not lot/serial enabled. Backflush for lot and serial enabled materials is not supported. Users can issue lot and serial enabled materials using the Material Transaction UI on their mobile devices.
- Resource details are not displayed during the operation transaction. Resources with automatic charge type are charged proportionately based on the work order resource details.
- Reporting lot or serial enabled outputs and adding new outputs during operation transactions are not supported. Users can complete the primary product of the discrete work order while completing the last operation.
- Any output at any operation, other than the primary product in a discrete work order, should be defined with the Manual completion type, so that the outputs can be completed using the Report Output mobile UI.
- Inspection plans are not considered during operation transactions.
- Descriptive flexfields for item/lot/serial are not supported.

Access Requirements
Users who are assigned a configured job role that contains these privileges and codes can access this feature:
- Manage Production Reporting Work Area (WIP_MANAGE_PRODUCTION_REPORTING_ WORK_AREA)
This privilege allows access to the Production Reporting work area to report production transactions using handheld devices and is a new privilege in this update.
Roles mapped to this privilege - Production Operator. - Report Operation Transactions (WIP_REPORT_OPERATION_TRANSACTIONS_PRIV)
This privilege was available prior to this update.
