Redwood: Populate Structure Attributes Rapidly and View Full Structure Hierarchy
With the new hierarchy view that’s available in this release for the structure grid, you can see the entire tree of the structures in read-only mode with separate icons for parent sub-assembly, item, or document sub-assembly document, and document. This view is also available in the change context and will display redlines for the first-level only.
.
Hierarchy View of the Structure
You can also view the structure and where used as of the selected context date. For structures, you can select the context date only for the current revision. Regardless of the component revision you choose, the where used report is derived based on the current revision.
Date Selector in a Structure for Current Revision
The enhanced spotlight can now include reference designators, substitute components, component level attributes, component level descriptive flexfields when you drag and drop (select and move) the components to the item or in change context.
Component Level Attributes Copied When You Drag and Drop from Spotlight
You can use Filter columns to narrow down the components that require review. The column filter icon appears when you hover over the column header.
Column Filters
To help modify the single-level structure, an enhancement that provides a spreadsheet-like functionality has been introduced. Using the fill handle capability you can easily copy values to multiple components. As in a spreadsheet, you can select a cell, grab the small square in the corner, and drag it in any direction - up, down, vertically, or horizontally to fill cells.
To perform bulk edits, select multiple cells and drag up or down.
To quickly update cells, select multiple cells, right-click and select Autofill.
Fill Handle Action to Copy Quantity
With the enhancement for reference designators in this release, you can modify the reference designator descriptive flexfields in the side panel.
Modify Descriptive Flexfield of Reference Designator in Side Panel
This feature drives business value through the following benefits:
- Visualize the BOM structure more intuitively with a tree hierarchy format, enabling faster understanding of assemblies and subassemblies.
- Identify structure levels and additional BOM configurations at a glance using clear, informative icons.
- Ensure accurate decision-making by viewing only the current revision in the tree structure view and when determining Where Used.
- Streamline BOM management by dragging and dropping related component details (For example: reference designators, substitutes, attributes) directly within the Navigator.
- Accelerate structure attribute review by filtering columns to quickly isolate components that require attention.
- Increase efficiency with Microsoft Excel-like fill handle functionality that simplifies bulk value entry across multiple components.
- Improve productivity by editing descriptive flexfields in place while maintaining full BOM context.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
- For structure, you can only select the date between the start and end revision date of the current revision.
- If the current revision is the latest revision, then there's no end date.
