Redwood: Manage Simulation Sets Using a New User Experience
Use the Redwood user experience to review, create, edit, duplicate, and delete simulation sets. You can use simulation sets to override plan input data and quickly setup scenario experiments that help you assess the impact of changes on planning results before committing to the actual changes.
You can now use the Redwood user experience to view and make changes to Simulation Sets. You can access this page from the Supply Chain Planning work area when viewing a plan, plan inputs, or a simulation set. Open the action menu, click the View More action, and select the Simulation Sets link in the Plan Inputs section.

Simulation Sets Menu Action
On the Simulation Sets screen, you can search, view, copy, edit, and delete simulation sets. You can open a simulation set in a new tab in the Supply Chain Planning work area.

Searching for Simulation Sets
- Keyword search: Use keywords to search for simulation sets based on the Name and Description columns. The search runs over the Name and Description columns using the contains operator and is case insensitive.
- Suggested filters: Use the suggested filters for column-specific criteria. For example, select the Name and Description suggested filters to view all the simulation sets based on the name and description. Press Enter or click outside of the suggested filter to update the table. The table displays only the rows that meet the current criteria.
Search Results
The search results table lists the simulation sets by name, a newly available description field, and includes a list of plans using the simulation set in their plan options configurations. The other columns display the user and the date that the simulation set was last updated or created. Each column can be sorted in ascending or descending order.
Action Toolbar
On the Action toolbar, you can:
- Create a simulation set.
- Export or download a simulation set. The columns are exported based on the current view, meaning that the exported spreadsheet contains the columns in the order in which they appear in the table.
Creating a simulation set
- Click Create.
This opens the New simulation set drawer.
- Enter a unique name and an optional description.
If the name of the simulation set already exists, an error message will be displayed. - Click Create.

New Simulation Set
After you click Create, the new simulation is displayed in the list of simulation sets.
The following actions are available for each simulation set:
Edit a simulation set
Update the name and description of an existing simulation set.
- On the Simulation Sets page, click the Edit icon.
This opens the simulation set drawer. - Update the name or the description.
Note: If the name of the simulation set is already in use, an error message will be displayed. - Click Update.
Open a simulation set
Open the simulation set in a new browser tab.
- Click the Actions icon.
- Select Open from the given options.
The simulation set will open in a new browser tab. You can now add entries to the simulation set such as items, operations, and resources.
Copy a simulation set
Duplicate a simulation set.
- Click the Actions icon.
- Select Copy.
The Copy simulation set drawer opens. - Enter a new name and optional description.
The details of the selected simulation set such as items, item structures, and resources are copied to the new simulation set.
Delete a simulation set
- Click the Actions icon.
- Select Delete from the given options.
The simulation set is deleted. Any records associated to the simulation set, such as items, resources, and operations are deleted. If the simulation set is associated to any plans, the association is removed from the plan’s simulation set plan option field.

Tips And Considerations
If you have updated any plan data, then you can add the changed data to a simulation set.
To save input changes to a simulation set, make your changes in any of the following pages and then select Copy to Simulation Set from the page’s Action menu:
- Items
- Item Structures
- Resources
- Resource Availability
- Operations
- Operation Resources
- Supplies and Demands
- Suppliers
- Supplier Capacity
Data from Plan Inputs and other simulation sets can also be copied into a simulation set.
After you copy the data to a simulation set, you can run the simulation to verify your data by assigning this simulation to a plan in the Plan Options page of the plan. You can then run the plan with this simulation set.
