Consider unreleased sales orders as demand for min-max planning

Effective inventory operations depend on having a complete and accurate view of all sources of supply and demand as early as possible in the order fulfillment lifecycle. In certain circumstances, customer sales orders are created and held for some time before inventory is reserved or the order is interfaced to Oracle Shipping. These orders represent legitimate customer demand and should be visible to users reviewing warehouse supply and demand, while also being included in demand calculations that consume available supply and drive shortage assessments.

To support more informed inventory decisions, you can now view sales orders created in Oracle Fusion Cloud Order Management that haven't been released to the warehouse on the Item Supply and Demand page. Additionally, these same orders are now considered valid demand that consumes supply when calculating item shortages and stockouts on the Item Shortages page.

You can review unreleased sales orders on the Shipment Lines page. The line status associated with the sales order are Ready to release.

These shipment lines are included as Demand Quantity in the min-max report provided the parameter Include Unreleased Sales Orders as Demand is set to Yes.

By providing earlier visibility into pending customer demand, organizations can improve shortage analysis, enhance inventory planning accuracy, and make more proactive fulfillment and replenishment decisions.

Steps to enable and configure

Follow these steps to include unreleased sales orders as demand when running the Print Min-Max Planning Report.

1. In the Scheduled Processes work area, search for the scheduled process: Print Min-Max Planning Report.
2. In the Process Details dialog window, select Yes for the Include Unreleased Sales Orders as Demand parameter.
3. Click Submit. 

You can review the min-max report output by clicking the Resubmit icon.

The default value for the Include Unreleased Sales Orders as Demand parameter is No.
