Collaboration Image Interaction Enhancements
Starting with update 24D, Oracle Field Service collaboration users can now view larger images directly within the app without downloading. The preview allows zooming, rotating, and downloading images. GIFs images are now also supported. When sending images, users will see a thumbnail preview, with options to remove or change the image before sending. They can also copy and paste images into the Message text box and preview the image by clicking the thumbnail before sending.
Some use cases for these new capabilities include:
- Field resources can inspect and validate images before forwarding them to the back office for final approval, ensuring that only suitable images are sent and reducing instances of back-and-forth communication for clarification.
- Helpdesk users assisting field resources can promptly assess and interpret images, enabling them to provide faster and more accurate triaging of issues. This preliminary assessment empowers helpdesk users to gain a comprehensive understanding of the situation before forwarding the issue to the relevant departments or experts for timely resolution.
- Field resources can instantly share high-resolution images of equipment issues. Colleagues can preview, zoom, and rotate images directly within the app, without downloading or using extra clicks. This allows for immediate feedback and efficient collaboration, keeping devices uncluttered and resolving issues more efficiently.
Preview Images
Collaboration users can now view a larger version of the images directly from within the application instead of having to download each image to view it. The image can be previewed by simply clicking/tapping the message containing the image. The image will be displayed in a large overlay on larger devices and will be displayed in full screen on smaller devices.
Preview on large devices
Preview on smaller devices
This preview will have an option to zoom in and out as well as scroll the image to view specific areas of the image.
Users can also rotate the image to view the image in different orientations. This function only affects the viewing experience and does not alter the uploaded image.
Users will also have the ability to download the image, if required, directly from the preview layer.
The preview feature will only be available for images. For other files, the file will be downloaded when the message is clicked.
Improved interface of chat bubbles
The chat bubbles used in Collaboration will now have a new look based on Redwood styles. If only an image is sent or received, the image will be shown covering the entire chat bubble. The time and status will be displayed within the image.
For images that are sent with some text, the text will be shown at the bottom of the chat bubble.
Image/file thumbnail for senders
After selecting an image or file to send, the sender will be able to view them as a thumbnail within the Message text box.
For images, this thumbnail will allow the sender to view the preview of the image before sending it. This preview will let the sender zoom in/out as well as rotate the image, just like it would for receivers.
Clicking the cross icon on the thumbnail will remove the selected image or file. This can be used if an incorrect image or file was selected.
Additional text can be added with the image or the file while sending.
Copy/Paste Images
In addition to sending an image by using the 'Attach Image' option and selecting the image file, users will also be able to directly copy and paste images into the Message text box.
View GIF images
If GIF images are sent, the same will now be displayed with animations in the image, instead of just showing as a static image.
Business Benefits
- Enhanced Operational Efficiency: The preview feature eliminates the need to download images for clear viewing, reducing interactions and response times in Collaboration, and speeding up issue resolution.
- Storage Optimization: Direct image preview conserves device storage, eliminating the need for constant downloads and subsequent manual deletions.
- Error Prevention: Thumbnail view and removal option reduce errors by ensuring the correct files are shared.
