Quota and Capacity Management Enhancements
Starting with update 24D, the user experience of the Available Capacity and Quota Configuration pages has been enhanced. The pages now feature the Redwood design, known for its modern aesthetics and improved accessibility. This documentation outlines the enhancements implemented within Oracle Field Service, specifically regarding the Quota Close Time and the Late Start Mitigation parameter, known as 'Activity Starting Threshold %' within the user interface. These enhancements provide greater flexibility and control over quota management, improve the overall user experience, and align with related API operations.
Flexible Quota Close Time Enhancement for Time Slot-based Booking
Quota Close Time allows administrators to automatically close a quota when a specified close time is reached. As part of this enhancement, the number of days before a quota can be closed has been increased from 5 to 255, enabling a more flexible booking approach. This change better aligns with the behavior of the related API operation and facilitates the application of changes when the quota for specific time slots, capacity areas, or work zones needs to remain closed for extended periods.
This capability proves useful in scenarios where a specific location is known to be unavailable for scheduling during certain times of the day or when activities need to be scheduled based on seasonal demand.

Unified Late Start Mitigation Control for Availability-based Booking
The lateStartMitigation parameter, now accessible within the user interface as the 'Activity Starting Threshold %' setting, gives administrators control over booking suggestions, and enhancing quota management efficiency.
Previously available only in the API for showBookingGrid or Get activityBookingOptions methods, the lateStartMitigation parameter allows for adjustments to the default value of the Activity Starting Threshold %. This setting influences booking suggestions, reducing the likelihood of activities starting close to the end of a time slot.
Altering the default value of 20% for the 'Activity Starting Threshold,%' allows for tailored booking suggestions to meet specific requirements. Saving this configuration applies the customized value during booking if the lateStartMitigation parameter is not set for the showBookingGrid or Get activityBookingOptions methods.
When the value is greater than 0, the system avoids suggesting bookings for activities expected to start within the last defined threshold percentage of the time slot duration. This functionality optimizes resource utilization and improves the customer experience by reducing late starts.
By integrating the lateStartMitigation parameter into the User Interface as the 'Activity Starting Threshold %' setting, administrators gain direct and intuitive control over this feature, streamlining quota management and enhancing the overall booking process.
Quota and Capacity User Experience Enhancements
Quota and Capacity Management is a powerful capability for optimizing resource utilization and managing demand. It enables capacity planners to define and manage capacity limits, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to various activities and services.
With the update 24D, the user experience of the Available Capacity and Quota Configuration pages has been enhanced. The pages now feature the Redwood design, known for its modern aesthetics and improved accessibility. The Mass Populate page has also been improved to bring more clarity into the process. Additionally, the dialog to prevent leaving pages without saving changes has also been unified among the Quota pages to prevent any data loss and provide users greater control and flexibility.
Available Capacity
Available Capacity - Modify Planned Capacity
Configuration - Based on Time Slots
Configuration - Based on Booking Intervals
Configuration - Override Intervals
NOTE: The Override Intervals option is only available for Capacity Areas configured to use the 'Based on Booking Intervals' approach.
A new editor for Booking Intervals is available on the Quota Configuration page. This editor allows users to review and customize booking intervals inherited from the parent resource.
By accessing the Override Intervals option, users can add the intervals in the editor dialog.
To revert to the default intervals, select the'Return to Default button in the editor.
To apply the changes, select the Modify button.
Quota Page - Mass Populate
The Mass Populate dialog now includes the 'Target Field Level' field. This addition brings clarity to the mass population process by showing which level of the schedule is being filled with data. The field will display one of the following values, depending on your selections:
- Day Level: If you have enabled the 'Show Day' option using the View menu
- Time Slot Level: When you select one or more specific Time Slots in the View menu
- Category Level: When neither the 'Show Day' option nor specific Time Slots are selected, the system defaults to populating the data at the Capacity Category level
Unsaved Changes Notification
A dialog will appear if a user attempts to navigate away from a page with unsaved changes. This enhancement offers the option to save changes and proceed or dismiss changes and remain on the current page, preventing data loss and providing users with greater control and flexibility.
Business Benefits
- Improved flexibility and control over quota management within the User Interface, enabling administrators to align booking suggestions with business needs and customer preferences
