Ability to search nearby assets and view details
Oracle Fusion Field Service 25A release introduces these new features as part of the Asset Details Plugin that allows mobile workers:
- Find nearby assets.
- Scan barcodes of an asset to get more information.
These updates help mobile workers quickly locate and manage assets on-site using Oracle Fusion Field Service mobile application, making their work more efficient.
Find Nearby Asset and Access Asset Information
Mobile workers can find an asset near their current location and view more information by using the Asset Details plugin.
Once the Nearby Assets button is enabled on My Route page, mobile workers can:
- Select the button to view a list of nearby assets.
- Choose an asset from the list to see its details.
Find NearBy Asset
Notes:
- Nearby Asset functionality supports both installed base assets and maintenance assets.
- For maintenance assets, the Nearby search returns data only for assets in the work center to which the mobile worker is mapped.
- A maximum of 50 assets can be shown in the search results.
Scan an Asset and Access Asset Information
Mobile workers can search an Asset using the Barcode Scanning functionality. If an asset has a barcode and is associated with a barcode field, you can scan the asset and view more information using the Asset Details plugin. Once the Scan and Search Asset Button is enabled on My Route page, mobile workers can:
- Select the button and scan the asset barcode to search for the asset.
- View the asset information.
Scan and Search
Notes:
- If the barcode scan fails, you can search for assets using other configured parameters such as serial number or asset number.
- Barcode scanning works only if the barcode is mapped to the asset number or serial number.

Business Benefit
Increased Efficiency & Productivity:
- Mobile workers can quickly locate assets using geolocation and barcode scanning, reducing the time spent on manual searches.
- Barcode scanning ensures accurate asset identification, minimizing errors from manual data entry or visual inspections.
Improved Customer Service:
- Mobile workers can identify and address potential problems before they escalate, leading to more reliable service and fewer customer complaints. For instance, if a mobile worker finds an issue with an asset not linked to the current activity at the same customer location, they can search for a nearby asset and create a follow-up activity or work order to resolve the issue.

- By default, the search functionality will work based on the Asset number, serial number, asset description & item number. If you want to fine-tune the search with additional parameters, you have to set the same in fusion, please refer this page to get more information on adaptive search functionality.
- To view the InstalledBase assets near to his location, the mobile workers working on the installed base assets will have to enable the location on his device. Please refer this page for more information.
