One-Click Unsubscribe Supported in Email Header

To help make it easier for your customers to opt out of marketing emails and to comply with requirements from major email providers, we’ve introduced the One-Click Unsubscribe feature.

This update supports adding a special header to your bulk emails, making the "Unsubscribe" option more visible and easier to use for recipients in email services like Gmail and Outlook.

What’s Changed?
Before:
Your marketing emails included a basic “mailto:” unsubscribe link. Some providers, like Outlook, recognized any kind of “unsubscribe” link, but Gmail is now requiring a special “One-Click” option.

Now:
With the new “One-Click Unsubscribe” support:

Your bulk emails can include “List-Unsubscribe” headers that meet Gmail’s latest requirements.
Gmail and some other providers will show recipients an easy-to-find “Unsubscribe” button within their email interface.

Business Value:

Enabling a single click unsubscribe enhances the customer experience by making it simple and convenient for recipients to opt out of emails they no longer wish to receive.

Steps to Enable

There’s a new configuration setting for this feature:

MAILER_LIST_UNSUBSCRIBE_HEADER controls what type of unsubscribe information is added to your emails.

  • Email-based (“mailto:”) unsubscribe (default)
  • One-Click unsubscribe (Survey Opt-In)
  • One-Click unsubscribe (Global Opt-In)

Tips And Considerations

For the One-Click Unsubscribe to work reliably with different email providers, your email setup must:

  • Pass DKIM and SPF authentication checks
  • Use secure (https) links with valid SSL certificates
  • Send emails from domains with a positive sender reputation
  • Ensure unsubscribe links are accessible from the email provider’s servers (not just from your own or internal networks)
  • Some email clients, such as certain Outlook versions, may not always display the One-Click option, as support can vary between providers.
  • The Oracle B2C Service should be on 25C or higher version.
