Social Login Support in DCS Sign-In component

Today we allow SAML and we are adding the support for Open ID Connect.  This allows end users to log into the DCS portal using their social login credentials such as Google, Facebook, Microsoft, UAE PASS, etc.

Social login offers numerous business benefits, including streamlined registration, increased user engagement, and enhanced security, while also providing valuable data insights for businesses. For users, it simplifies the login process and reduces password fatigue, leading to a more user-friendly experience.

For Users:

  • Easier and Faster Sign-in: Social login allows users to log in using their existing social media credentials, eliminating the need to create and manage yet another account or password.
  • Reduced Password Fatigue: Users don't have to remember and manage multiple passwords, which can be a source of frustration and security risks.
  • Enhanced User Experience: The simplified login process leads to a more positive and engaging user experience.
  • Improved Security: Many social media platforms have robust security measures, and leveraging their authentication can enhance the security of your website or app.
  • Increased User Engagement: A smooth and easy login process can encourage users to engage more with your support portal.

For Businesses:

  • Increased User Acquisition: Social login can attract more users, as it simplifies the registration process and reduces friction.
  • Reduced Spam: Social login can help to reduce the number of fake or spam accounts on your platform.
  • Lower Maintenance Costs: Businesses don't have to manage password infrastructure, saving on development and maintenance costs.
  • Enhanced Trust and Security: By leveraging the trust and security of social media platforms, social login can help build trust with users.
  • Streamlined Customer Service: Social login can simplify the process of identifying and verifying users, which can make customer service more efficient.

Steps to Enable

Please create a support ticket against DCS if you need help setting up this feature.  The resources below will guide you on how to enable the social login in the DCS Sign-In component.

The Social Provider should be set up within IDCS using the following instructions https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/paas/identity-cloud/uaids/add-social-identity-provider.html and it should be activated as described with https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/paas/identity-cloud/uaids/activate-and-deactivate-identity-provider.html.

Once this has been created, the IDP Policies should be updated to have the DCS/VB application use the Social IDP. Instructions for this are https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/paas/identity-cloud/uaids/assign-identity-providers-policy.html

After this the Social IDP will appear on the Sign-In Page of IDCS and using the DCS Custom Sign-In page. If using the DCS Custom Sign-In page, the DCS application in IDCS will need to have its Application URL set to be the URL of the DCS Sign-In Page. Click on the Edit Application button to see the attribute to be modified. Instructions can be found with https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/paas/identity-cloud/uaids/add-confidential-application.html and https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/paas/identity-cloud/uaids/edit-high-level-information-custom-applications.html
