Android Auto for Mobile Workers
Android Auto Integration brings an extended version of the Oracle Fusion Field Service application to Android Auto, designed for mobile workers while they are in their vehicles. The feature is fully context-aware and displays only the most relevant information during the workday.
For example, when the mobile worker connects their Android device to an Android Auto–compatible vehicle, the application automatically prompts them to activate their route at the start of the day and then displays the next activity on the vehicle’s infotainment screen.
All interactions follow a safe, low-touch interface designed for driving contexts.
Mobile workers will be able to:
- Launch the extended application when connected to Android Auto.
- Start their route from the Android Auto console.
- View activity details with relevant customer and job information.
- Navigate to customer sites using the native Maps application.
- Call the customer directly (if contact information is available).
- Receive prompts and alerts based on movement and job status.
Supported Screens in 26A for Android Auto
- Open Application Alert: Displayed when the user session has expired and prompts the mobile worker to open the Oracle Fusion Field Service application.
- Start Route Screen: Displayed when the mobile worker has not started their route.
- Activity Details Screen: Shows current activity details and relevant options:
- Navigate to the activity site.
- Call the customer.

Steps to Enable and Configure
- Update to the Oracle Fusion Field Service Android application version that includes Android Auto integration.
- Connect the Android device to an Android Auto–compatible vehicle.
- Open the Oracle Fusion Field Service application and initiate a route to enable full Android Auto functionality.
- Use the extended application on the vehicle’s console to perform key actions.
Tips And Considerations
Design Considerations
- The interface is intentionally minimal to support safe use while driving.
- Only essential and contextually relevant information is displayed.
Points to Note
- The feature is inactive if:
- The route is not active.
- The mobile worker session is expired (reauthentication required in the application).
- Location permissions are not set to Always Allow.
- The application is force-closed or has not been opened recently.
- Required data is missing (for example, customer contact details or address). In such cases, the relevant button (such as Call Customer or Navigate) is disabled and the mobile worker is prompted to open the application.
Requirements
- Latest version of the Oracle Fusion Field Service application.
- Android Auto–compatible vehicle.
- Oracle Fusion Field Service platform version 26A or later.
- Location permission set to Always Allow.
- Active mobile worker route.
