Behavioral Load Shaping Time of Use customers can use the Time of Use Main Insight Module within High Bill Alerts. The Time of Use High Bill Alerts Main Insight module is an improved version of the Behavioral Load Shaping High Usage module, designed to help customers on Time of Use rate plans identify when they should be using less energy to save money. This new module improves upon the High Usage module by providing a more direct summary of the impact of peak hours on the customer's bill, as well as an easy-to-understand graphical representation of their rate plan and usage.

Time of Use Main Insight within High Bill Alerts

Key module features include:

  • Behavioral Load Shaping Insights: The module summarizes the customer’s percentage of costs or usage associated with peak hours, and explains how much more expensive energy is during peak hours. The module also asks the reader to try and shift usage away from the on-peak time period.
  • Graphical Usage Charts: The module provides one or more graphical representations of the customer's average daily costs or usage in their bill period to date. For Time of Use plans with different rate structures on weekdays and weekends, separate weekday and weekend charts are included.
  • Additional Information: The module also identifies the dates associated with the current billing period, and provides a link that the utility can configure to send readers to a website where they can learn more about their rate plan.

These design improvements will help customers on Time of Use rate plans that are trending towards a high bill identify when they should be using less energy to save money.

Steps to Enable

Contact your Service Delivery Manager to coordinate configuration of the module. To contact your Service Delivery Manager:

  1. Log in to Inside Opower (https://inside.opower.com). This is your portal for questions and information related to your program.
  2. Go to the Community tab and contact the Service Delivery Manager using the information provided.

Tips And Considerations

  • It is recommended that all utilities currently using the Behavioral Load Shaping High Usage module within High Bill Alerts move to the Time of Use High Bill Alerts Main Insight module to benefit from the improved design.
  • Additional configuration and the Behavioral Load Shaping SKU are required to enable this feature.
