Collective Benefits Module
The Collective Benefits module is included in the Rate Coach Post Bill Report and provides the customer with information about why avoiding peak use is important for reasons beyond bill-savings. There are eight possible messages, with associated illustrations, related to the following topics:
- Air quality - community health
- Air quality - pollution
- Summer blackouts
- Winter blackouts
- Carbon emissions
- Rate increases
- Energy justice
- Renewable energy
The utility can choose to suppress any of the eight messages. Oracle Utilities Opower recommends targeting each messaging variant of the module for approximately four weeks, on a rotating basis. This ensures that all customers receive the “current” message in their Post Bill Report.

The Collective Benefits module augments the cost savings benefit frame in the Rate Coach reports, and provides motivation to shift use to off-peak hours, and further educating customers on why Time of Use rates exist. The module drives increased load shifting and customer satisfaction.
Steps to Enable
Contact your Service Delivery Manager to coordinate configuration of the module. To contact your Service Delivery Manager:
- Log in to Inside Opower (https://inside.opower.com). This is your portal for questions and information related to your program.
- Go to the Community tab and contact the Service Delivery Manager using the information provided.
Tips And Considerations
The Collective Benefits module appears in the Peak Usage Summary for utilities on the legacy experience.
