How does data purge and delete work for Sales records?
When you purge or delete records in Oracle Sales, whether or not the record is soft deleted or purged completely depends on both the business object being changed and the method you use.
This table describes the behavior of purge and delete for some objects:
Business Object | What Happens to the Record When Deleted | Where to Find More Information |
---|---|---|
Accounts and contacts |
When deleted (vs purge), the account party status becomes inactive in the database. This is called a soft delete. When you delete an account or a contact, all the child entities might not become inactive. Run the Delete Child Entities of Inactive Party Records scheduled process to deactivate them. A purge process can hard delete soft deleted accounts and contacts. When a record is purged, the child object records, including attachments, are deleted. |
