Seamless Amendment Transition
Seamless Amendment Transition ensures that the original subscription automatically extends until the amended subscription begins. This behavior prevents service interruption during the amendment process.
Previously, when the start date of the new product line created during an amendment was updated, the amendment effective date and close date of the old product line retained the values entered during the amendment action. With this feature, when the start date of the new product line is updated, the system automatically updates the close date and amendment effective date of the old product line to align with the updated start date of the new product line.
Subscription Continuity During Amendments
Seamless Amendment Transition automatically extends the existing subscription to cover the period between the old subscription end date, and the new subscription start date. This ensures that there's no gap in service when an amendment changes the start date of the new subscription product line.
This behavior provides several benefits:
-
Ensures there's no gap in service between the original subscription and the amended subscription.
-
Maintains continuous subscription service for customers.
-
Prevents loss of revenue and billing during the transition period.
Example
Consider a Cloud backup service subscription that's amended with an amendment effective date of 13-Feb-2026 to increase backup storage.
A new product line is created in draft status with a start date of 13-Feb-2026. If the start date of the new product line is later updated to 19-Feb-2026 because of a provisioning delay, the existing Cloud backup service subscription is automatically extended until 18-Feb-2026 and billed until that date. The close date of the existing product line becomes 19-Feb-2026.
Configure Seamless Amendment Transition
-
Navigate to Setup and Maintenance.
-
Search for the task Manage Administrator Profile Values.
-
Search for the profile option Synchronize Start Date with Close Date.
-
Set the Site level value to Yes.
Additional Behavior
-
When performing Mass Update, if the start date is included as an attribute to update, the selected amendment effective date is discarded.
-
If the amendment action is performed from Order Management and the start date of the new product line is updated in Subscription Management, the close date of the old product line is updated. Because of this behavior, the close date might differ between Order Management and Subscription Management.
-
If an earlier amended product is amended again, seamless amendment behavior continues when the profile option is enabled.
-
This capability is supported only for subscription products whose sales product type is Subscription in Product Information Management. Coverage services aren't supported for this feature.
