Add a WhatsApp Messaging Provider for the Text Assistant

Create and activate a WhatsApp messaging provider that will enable the Text Assistant to communicate with candidates.

If you already have an active WhatsApp provider with WhatsApp communication enabled, and you edit the provider to enable Text Assistant communication, the WhatsApp communication will be disabled. You’ll need to enter the text assistant threshold limits and re-enable WhatsApp communication.

Ensure that WhatsApp configurations are different for each pod—production and other test pods.

  1. In the Setup and Maintenance work area, go to:
    • Offering: Recruiting and Candidate Experience

    • Functional Area: Recruiting and Candidate Experience Management

    • Task: Recruiting Messaging Configuration

  2. On the Recruiting Messaging Configuration page, in the WhatsApp Messaging Providers section, select Add.
  3. Enter a name and description.
  4. Select a provider.
  5. Enter the maximum limit for a message length, in number of characters.

The Body parameter includes the full text of the message you want to send. For Twilio, it's limited to 1600 characters. Based on your business needs, you can set the message length limit to 1600 characters or less.

  6. Select Enable the text assistant if you want the text assistant to automatically respond to candidate WhatsApp messages.

When you do this, you’ll see two tabs displayed, where you can define the details for two WhatsApp channels: The Hiring Team Messages tab is for the first channel that's used for WhatsApp messages sent by the recruiting team. The Automated and Text Assistant Messages tab is for the second channel that's used for automated messages and text assistant responses.

  7. Enter info in the Request Details, Authentication, Headers, and Body sections for the selected service provider in both tabs.

For more information on entering info for the Twilio and Syniverse service providers, see the document For details, see the document Adding a WhatsApp Messaging Service Provider on My Oracle Support.

  8. Select Test Outbound Message to send a test message and make sure that the configuration is properly done.
  9. You need to test the outbound message for each channel type, hiring team and agent messages.

In the WhatsApp Message Info section, enter the phone number for each channel and select the channel type.

  10. Save and close the page once the test is successful.
