Configure Skill Settings Page

Set skill validation rules, enable adding nonlibrary skills, define the number of skills suggestions and attributes and more using the Skill Settings page.

  1. Go to My Client Groups > Skills Settings
  2. Review the selected rating model.
  3. If you want to validate skills, enable skill validation and set rules for when a skill is considered validated.
    • Consider the requirement met only after the skill is validated and display only the validated skill in dark color – For enhanced skills center experience, enabling this setting will show a check mark on the skill when the requirement is met. This is valuable if you plan to require skills, and expectation of validation of those skills before the requirement can be considered met.
    • Hide endorsement counts – Customers enable this if they're concerned with ‘gamification’ of endorsement count and/or whether this advantages extroverted employees.
    • Skill Endorsement Score – used to trigger when a skill becomes validated. The best practice is to treat validation points as a binary; for example, setting manager endorsement to 100 points and peer endorsement to 0.
  4. Enter nonlibrary skills – These skills aren’t present in an existing library. This section lets you decide which components are allowed to accept nonlibrary skills as entries. Selecting Allow adding nonlibrary skills on any row will enable users of the skill component in an application to define a nonlibrary skill.
Note: Nonlibrary skills can be found in the ‘Nonlibrary Skills’ catalog. This catalog is inactive. To view it, you need to select catalogs with all statuses.
  5. Adding skills to others’ profiles – If this is enabled, any employee can add a skill to another employee’s profile.
Note: This option is no longer available in Enhanced Skill Center.
  6. Skill suggestions – Lets you set the number of skill chips users see when looking at a skill river.
  7. Skill attributes – Lets you select the skill attributes a user sees when looking at a skill detail page and the skill ratings panel.
