Using the Override Parameter Option When Creating Schedules from Templates

It’s common for an integrated task to have parameters that you must update periodically. Many integrated tasks have a Period parameter that varies between task executions in different schedules. For example, the Run Data Rule integrated task's Start Period and End Period parameters may need to be modified within different schedules created from the template.

The Override Parameter option allows a quick way to update these parameters, which you must update periodically.

Initially, designate the integration parameters that you must update at scheduling time by selecting the Override at Scheduling property in the task type. For new task types, see Setting Task Type Parameters. For existing task types, see Editing Task Types.

For example, edit the Run Data Rule task type. On the Parameters tab, select the Override at Scheduling option for Start Period and End Period, and then save.

Secondly, when adding the integrated tasks to your template, select the task type and populate the required parameters. For the parameters designated for override, you can provide the default values or leave them blank. See Adding Tasks to Templates.

For example, add one or more Run Data Rule tasks to your template by selecting the Run Data Rule task type. On the Parameters tab, enter Jan for Start Period and Feb for End Period.

Lastly, when creating a schedule from template, select the Override at Scheduling tab. Within the table, all parameters that are designated for an override at scheduling will be listed with their current values. You can enter a new parameter value, which will be set for all tasks using the task type.

For example, when creating a schedule from the template, the Override at Scheduling tab will show the Run Data Rule Start Period and End Period parameters with their current values. You can override the parameter by updating the values within the table.

Table 37-2 Override Parameters at Scheduling

Task Type Name Parameter Name Current Value New Value
Run Data Rule Start Period Jan Feb
Run Data Rule End Period Feb Mar

When the schedule is created, the Run Data Rule tasks will be set with Start Period as Feb and End Period as Mar.
