Container Optimization Solution

This page is accessed via:

  • Ask Oracle > Container Optimization
  • Operational Planning > Ask Oracle > Container Optimization

The Container Optimization query helps you determine the optimal equipment group for bulk and packaged shipments based upon weight and volume. Populate the container optimization page. Then, populate either the bulk input or packaged input page.

The page displays various optimization solutions along the percent utilization and remaining weight and volume capacity for the selected equipment.

The Equipment section of the results screen shows the weight/volume/cost breakdown by equipment group. The objective, metric and algorithm is determined by the container optimization configuration. If you did not provide a cost, the cost field will be blank.

Click the Chart button to display a bar chart of the solutions with weight, volume, and cost if available. Click Chart again to hide the chart.

3D View

Depending on the parameter set, the solution equipment may be visible in 3 dimensions. Click on the solution. Then click the Equipment. If the parameter "Load Config Engine Type" is 3 D Placement or Pattern Based Optimizer, a 3-D view appears for the equipment.

Click Save as User-defined Pattern to save this configuration as a pattern that can be used in future shipping planning.  User-defined patterns are also known as 3D patterns.

By default, the 3D load configuration view uses built in 3D functionality.

Note: The Cortona VRML plugin has been deprecated. If necessary, you can configure the OTM Load Config action to use Cortona via the property glog.webserver.loadconfig.useCortona. The 3D viewer available in the Workbench does not support Cortona.

To display the 3D load configuration using Cortona, a VRML plugin is required for Microsoft Internet Explorer for 3D load configuration view. Cortona is not supported in Safari or in newer versions of Chrome.
