Add Shipment

This page is accessed via Fleet Management > Resource Management > Work Assignment > Actions > Add Shipment.

This action is also called via drag and drop on the workbench as described below.

Run this action to add a shipment to a work assignment. You specify a shipment, and then place it into a specific sequence within the string of existing shipments already associated with the work assignment. If the service time calculation is infeasible you are prompted to force the action. After you specify the shipments to add, you can then specify the order of shipments.

Note: When you run this action, the system considers the WA MAX DISTANCE BETWEEN SHIPMENTS, WA MAX DURATION BETWEEN SHIPMENTS, WA MAX SHIPMENTS IN TOUR, and WA MIN SHIPMENTS IN TOUR logic configuration parameters. If these parameters are violated by the action, you will be prompted to stop the action, or to override the violations and continue the action.

Adding Shipments to a Work Assignment

  1. Enter a Shipment ID.
  2. Click Save for each Shipment ID you specify.
  3. Click Continue.

Changing Shipment Sequences

  1. After selecting the option button in front of the shipment, you can change the sequence of the shipments by using the Move Up and Move Down buttons.
  2. If you want to reset the sequence to the sequence the rows were in when you first entered the screen, click the Default Sort button. The original sequence is the shipments that were previously on the work assignment in chronological order, followed by the newly added shipment(s).
  3. After you change the order of the shipments, optionally use the Recalculate button to calculate the changes in distance and duration for the empty portions of the work assignment that occur between shipments. You do not need to click this button as recalculations are done when you click the Update Work Assignment button.
  4. To save the sequence, click the Update Work Assignment button.

Using Drag-and-Drop on a Workbench Layout

On a workbench layout with a shipment table and a Work Assignment Gantt chart, you can use drag-and-drop functionality to add shipments to a work assignment.

Right-click on a shipment from the shipment table and select Start Drag to Gantt then drop the shipment on a work assignment in the Gantt chart exactly where you want it to be added to the work assignment. For example, if you drop it before the other shipments, then if, feasible, the shipment is added to be at that time and order in the work assignment. Once the shipment is dropped, all recalculations are completed in the background and the work assignment is updated.

If redrive fails while adding the shipment to the work assignment, you see a pop-up asking if you want to run the Force Assign action. If you click yes, the action runs and the shipment gets assigned to the work assignment.
