Creating New Actions

Some actions may be configured as part of a manager layout. To create new actions, create a new manager layout based on an action. Then create an action and associate it with that manager layout. Next, create a screen set and associate it with that action.

Note: You cannot audit user-defined actions.

Copying an Action Manager Layout

Copy a Manager Layout with a type of "Action" to define the layout for your new action.

  1. On the Manager Layout search page, select a Manager Layout Type of "Action".
  2. Click Search.
  3. Select the action you want to copy, and click Copy Manager Layout.
  4. Name the new manager layout appropriately and click Finished.

Creating a New Action

  1. Create a new action in the Action Manager.
    1. Select an Action Definition ID.

Note: Not all action definitions allow you to create user-defined actions. When you select an action definition the screen may redraw and display a new Manager Layout section. If this section appears, then you have selected an action definition that may be configured.

    2. Select the Manager Layout ID that you created for this action.
  2. Click Finished.

Creating a Screen Set for an Action

Create a screen set to associate with the action. Actions are run from screen sets, so you must create an association that fits the action. For example, if it is an order base line action, you must create a screen set that is for the order base line.

  1. Create a new screen set by copying an existing one that is relevant to the action you created. For example, if you created an action based on READY_TO_SHIP_OB_LINE, then the screen set you should copy would be OB_LINE.
  2. On the Actions tab of the screen set, add your action. It will be listed in the Actions list under the label that you gave the action when you created it.
  3. Save your action and screen set.
