Shipment Management

Capacity Override

This page is accessed via Shipment Management > Equipment Management > Equipment Capacity Override.

A capacity override allows you to model specific weight/volume restrictions by transport mode or equipment that can be assigned to any itinerary leg to control whether a shipment can be planned for that leg. For example, some countries or regions have specific capacity restrictions such as bridges that have maximum weight limits. By creating a capacity override and assigning it to a specific itinerary leg, Oracle Transportation Management will override the equipment capacity. For example, if an equipment has a capacity of 30000 pounds, but the capacity override says 27000 pounds, then Oracle Transportation Management will not plan more than 27000 pounds in the equipment.

Weight and volume are restricted by service provider as well as equipment group and transport mode.

Note: The lower of either the Equipment or the Equipment Capacity Override will be used and the Equipment Capacity Override is used only to reduce the equipment capacity that can be used.

Use the top section of the page to uniquely identify the capacity override and the domain in which it is stored. Next, define specific restrictions by creating capacity override lines.

Equipment Capacity for Legs that Reuse Equipment

If using network routing, and you have an itinerary with legs that reuse equipment, the most restricted capacity will be used on all shared equipment legs. Either "Shipment" or "Equipment" capacity overrides will apply.

The parameter 'USE CAPACITY OVERRIDE BY SERVPROV'' must be On.

Note: This only applies when using network routing.

Example

You have a three leg itinerary and the second and third legs use the same equipment (Equipment Assignment Type on the leg is set to Reuse Equipment). The capacity on the second leg is 25000 pounds, the capacity on the third leg is 30000. The most restricted capacity of 25000 will be honored.
