Accessorial Codes

This page is accessed via Contract and Rate Management > Power Data > Rates and Codes > Accessorial Codes.

An accessorial is a service performed at your request for an additional charge. Use accessorial codes to define types of accessorials that may apply to a shipment. Accessorial services could include the advancement of charges, pickup, delivery, C.O.D. (Cash on Delivery), signature service, packing and unpacking, storage-in-transit, or any other service that you want to add on. You must then define accessorial costs that define the actual cost of delivering this accessorial code.

An accessorial is also defined as part of rate offerings from service providers. While the specifics of an accessorial are defined in the rate offering, the code identifies the correct accessorial when defining the order and location.

Note: If there is more than one accessorial charge assigned to a rate offering or record, then they are charged in alphabetical order based on Accessorial Code ID.

  1. Enter an Accessorial Code ID.
  2. Enter an Accessorial Code Description.
  3. Select the Flow Thru check box to identify an order-based accessorial.
  4. Select the Always Apply check box to always have the accessorial applied without it being specifically requested in a location, order base, etc.
  5. Select VAT Exempt if the accessorial is tax exempt.
  6. Enter the Sequencing Factor. Use this field to provide a sequence value which controls the order in which accessorials are rated. Based on the sequencing factor value, OTM applies accessorials accordingly. For example, to calculate Out of Route Miles charges first and then a Fuel Surcharge, and Discount; enter the sequencing factor value as 1 for the Out of Route Miles charges, 2 for Fuel Surcharge, and 3 for Discount.
  7. Select a domain for the accessorial code from the Domain Name drop-down list.
  8. Click Finished.
