6.9 Managing Page Groups

Organize pages into page groups to make them to access easier. To use page groups, you create a group and then assign pages to the group.

Tip:

Page groups do not have any function other than to aid developers in organizing their application pages.

6.9.1 Viewing Page Groups

View page groups on by navigating to Utilities, Page Specific Utilities.

To view page groups:

  1. On the Workspace home page, click the App Builder icon.
  2. Select the application.
  3. Click the Utilities icon.
  4. Under Page Specific Utilities, click Page Groups.

    The Page Groups page appears.

    A Search bar displays at the top of the page. Available controls include:

    • Columns to search - Resembles a magnifying glass. Click this icon to narrow your search.
    • Text area - Enter case insensitive search criteria (wildcard characters are implied) to search for a page group by name and click Go.
    • Go button - Executes a search or applies a filter.
    • View Icons - Displays each group as a large icon. To edit a group, click the appropriate icon.
    • View Report - Displays each group as a line in a report. To edit a group, click the name.
    • Actions menu - Use the Actions menu to customize the report view.
  5. To view the pages associated with a group, click Pages by Page Group.

6.9.2 Creating a Page Group

Create a page group by navigating to Utilities, Page Specific Utilities.

To create a page group:

  1. On the Workspace home page, click the App Builder icon.
  2. Select the application.
  3. Click the Utilities icon.
  4. Under Page Specific Utilities, click Page Groups.
  5. On the Page Groups page, click Create.
  6. On Page Group:
    1. Page Group, Name - Identify the name of the page group.
    2. Page Group, Description - Enter a description for a page group.
    3. Advanced, Static ID - Enter a unique Static ID to identify this component in API calls or refer to it in application export files. If you change the Static ID, dependent components will retain their references, but any existing API calls using the old ID must be updated manually.
  7. Click Create.

6.9.3 Editing a Page Group Definition

Create a page group by defining a group name and description.

To edit the Page Group definition:

  1. On the Workspace home page, click the App Builder icon.
  2. Select the application.
  3. Click the Utilities icon.
  4. Under Page Specific Utilities, click Page Groups.
  5. Select a page group.
  6. On the Page Group page, edit the attributes and click Apply Changes.

    Tip:

    To move to another Page Group definition, click the Previous (<) or Next (>) buttons and repeat the previous step.
  7. Click Apply Changes.

6.9.4 Assigning a Page to a Page Group

Assign a page to a page group in Page Designer.

To assign pages to a page group:

  1. On the Workspace home page, click the App Builder icon.
  2. Select the application.
  3. Click the Utilities icon.
  4. Under Page Specific Utilities, click Page Groups.
  5. Click the Page Group Assignments tab.

    The Page Group Assignments page appears.

  6. Click the page number.

    Page Designer appears.

  7. In Page Designer:
    1. Identification, Page Group - Select a page group.
    2. Click Save.

6.9.5 Viewing Pages by Page Group

View pages by page group.

To access the Pages by Page Group page:

  1. On the Workspace home page, click the App Builder icon.
  2. Select the application.
  3. Click the Utilities icon.
  4. Under Page Specific Utilities, click Page Groups.
  5. Click the Pages by Page Group tab.

    The Pages by Page Group page appears.

  6. To remove a page from a group:
    1. Click the page number.
      The page displays in Page Designer appears.
    2. Identification, Page Group - Select - Select -.
    3. Click Save.

6.9.6 Deleting a Page Group

Remove all pages from a group before deleting it.

To delete a page group:

  1. Remove all pages from the group to be deleted:
    1. On the Workspace home page, click the App Builder icon.
    2. Select the application.
    3. Click the Utilities icon.
    4. Under Page Specific Utilities, click Page Groups.
    5. Click the Pages by Page Group tab.
    6. Click the page number.

      Page Designer appears.

    7. Identification, Page Group - Select - Select -.
    8. Click Save.
  2. Repeat the previous step and delete all pages in the group.
  3. Return to the Page Groups page.
    1. On the Page Designer toolbar, click the Create menu.
    2. Select Page Groups.
  4. Select the group to be deleted.
  5. Click Delete.
    A confirmation page appears.
  6. Confirm your request and click OK.
