This appendix describes features no longer supported by Oracle Net Services.

This appendix contains the following topics:

A.1 Overview of Unsupported Features

The following section describe the features and the configuration file that are no longer being supported in Oracle Database. This is based on an effort to streamline configuration and use of Oracle Database.

A.1.1 Oracle Net Connection Pooling

In Oracle Database 12c Release 2 (12.2), Oracle Net connection pooling is no longer supported. It was deprecated in Oracle Database 11g.

A.1.2 Oracle Names

Oracle Names has not been supported as a naming method since Oracle Database 11g. You must migrate to directory naming.

A.1.3 Oracle Net Listener Password

In Oracle Database 12c Release 2 (12.2), the Oracle Net Listener password feature is no longer supported. This does not cause a loss of security because authentication is enforced through local operating system authentication.

A.2 Unsupported Parameters

Table A-1 describes the networking parameters no longer supported by this release.
