Configure ECP Data Bridge Users

Configure the accounts used to sign in to the ECP Data Bridge local UI and connect to the SMB share.

Use the ECP Data Bridge runtime configuration to enable accounts, set their credentials, and assign their SMB file-access roles. ECP Data Bridge provides 15 predefined account slots.
  • Install ECP Data Bridge on the Cloud Connector.

  • Ensure that you have permission to update application configuration.

  • Determine which accounts require read-only or read-write access to files in the SMB share.

  1. In ECP, select Inventory.
  2. Locate and select the Cloud Connector on which ECP Data Bridge is installed.
  3. Select the Applications tab.
  4. Select ECP Data Bridge.
  5. From the actions menu, select Update Configuration.
  6. Select the most recent ECP Data Bridge configuration.
    The runtime-configuration fields are displayed.
  7. Locate the account slot that you want to configure.
Account slots are defined by the application configuration. You can enable or disable an existing slot, but you cannot add another slot beyond the 15 slots provided.
  8. Configure the account fields.
    Field Description

    Enabled

Enable the account to allow access to the local UI and SMB share. Disable the account to prevent access through both interfaces.

    Username

Enter the username used to sign in to the local UI and connect to the SMB share.

    Password

Enter the password used with the configured username.

    Role

Select Read-only or Read-write to control the file operations available through the SMB share.

The roles provide the following SMB permissions:
    • Read-only: View folders and files and copy files from the SMB share.
    • Read-write: View, copy, add, modify, rename, and delete folders and files in the SMB share.

    Note:

Both roles can use the source and transfer operations in the ECP Data Bridge local UI. The selected role controls file operations performed through the SMB share.
  9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 for each account that you want to configure.
  10. Select Save.

A new configuration version is created and applied to ECP Data Bridge on the Cloud Connector.

After the configuration is applied, enabled accounts can use the configured username and password to access both the local UI and the SMB share.

Changing an account password updates the credentials for both access methods. The previous password no longer works, and existing local UI sessions for that account are invalidated.

Disabling an account prevents the account from signing in to the local UI or reconnecting to the SMB share.
