Initiate a File Transfer

Select a folder from a configured source and start its download to local storage.

Initiate a transfer from the Sources page. Before starting the download, review the folders and files available under the configured source path and the size of the selected content.
  • Configure the source connection.

  • Verify that ECP Data Bridge can connect to the source.

  • Verify that the configured source folder exists.

  • Configure the OCI Object Storage destination.

  • Ensure that sufficient local storage is available for the selected content.

  1. Sign in to the ECP Data Bridge local UI.
  2. Open the Sources page.
  3. Locate the source from which you want to transfer files.
  4. From the source actions, select Initiate Transfer.
ECP Data Bridge opens the folder-selection drawer and retrieves the folders and files available under the configured source path.
  5. Review the folder tree.
The configured source folder is selected by default. Expand a folder to review its child folders and files.
  6. Select the folder that you want to transfer. You can either:
    • The configured source folder.
    • A folder available beneath the configured source folder.
Only one folder can be selected for a transfer. The transfer includes the selected folder's nested folders and files.
  7. Review the information displayed for the selection.
    Information Description

    Files

The number of files in the selected folder and its nested folders.

    Folders

The number of folders included in the selection.

    Size

The total amount of data that ECP Data Bridge will download.

  8. Select Initiate Transfer.

Before creating the transfer job, ECP Data Bridge verifies that:

    • Sufficient local storage is available for the selected folder.

    • Another download is not already active on the same Cloud Connector.

  9. Review the result.
    • If the validation succeeds, ECP Data Bridge creates a transfer job, starts the download, and opens the Transfer Jobs page.

    • If sufficient storage is not available, the download does not start. Remove files that are no longer required from the SMB share, and initiate the transfer again.

    • If another download is active, the new download does not start. Wait for the active download to finish, or cancel it if it is no longer required.

Only one download stage can be active on a Cloud Connector at a time. This restriction applies across accounts, browser tabs, browser windows, and API clients.

An upload that is already in progress does not prevent a new download from starting.

Monitor the download and the automatic OCI Object Storage upload.
