Manage Files in the SMB Share

Use the ECP Data Bridge SMB share to access files stored locally on the Cloud Connector.

The operations that you can perform depend on whether the ECP Data Bridge account has read-only or read-write access.

  • Connect to the ECP Data Bridge SMB share from Windows or macOS.

  • Ensure that you know whether the account has read-only or read-write access.

  1. Open the mapped or connected ECP Data Bridge SMB share.

  2. Browse to the folder that contains the files you want to access.

Folders created by ECP Data Bridge contain files downloaded as part of a transfer job.

  3. Perform the operations available for the account.

    Access Available operations

    Read-only

View and open folders and files, and copy files from the share to your system.

    Read-write

View and copy folders and files, copy files to the share, and edit, rename, or delete existing content.

  4. When using a read-write account, verify that a file is no longer required before modifying or deleting it.

Note: Do not delete files associated with a failed or canceled upload if you intend to retry the upload. ECP Data Bridge cannot retry the upload when required files are missing from local storage.

  5. When you finish using the share, close the file-manager window.

Files added to the SMB share and files downloaded by ECP Data Bridge use the same local storage. Adding or deleting files changes the storage information displayed in the ECP Data Bridge local UI.

File operations performed through the SMB share are recorded in the SMB audit logs.

  • To review local storage use, see ECP Data Bridge Storage and Session Information.

  • To review recorded SMB file operations, see Download SMB Audit Logs.
