Updating Satellite IP Policy for a Cloud Connector

When you want to change the satellite IP policy for a Cloud Connector, you can do so from the Oracle Enterprise Communications Platform (Oracle ECP) Edge Nodes Inventory page.

The satellite IP policy determines whether the Starlink terminal uses a public or private IP address. A public IP address is reachable from the internet. A private IP address is assigned from a private address range and is not directly reachable from the internet. Updating the IP policy triggers a reboot of the Starlink user terminal, as stated in the UI confirmation dialog and can take up to 15 minutes to synchronize. During synchronization, Oracle ECP shows the requested policy separately from the reflected policy.

To update a Satellite IP policy:

  1. Open the Update IP Policy drawer using one of the following methods:
On the Network tab, select the satellite interface from the interface chooser, click More Actions, and select Update IP Policy.
In the Cloud Connector Overview page, click the ellipsis, and select Update IP Policy.
  2. In the Update IP Policy drawer, review the IP Address and Subnet Mask values.
  3. Select the required IP policy:
Public assigns an internet-reachable IP address.
Private assigns an IP address from a private range that is not directly reachable from the internet.
  4. Click Update.
  5. In the Update IP Policy dialog box, click Update.
  6. After you submit the update request, review the Update IP Policy drawer:
The information banner displays the requested change and its status, for example, IP Policy update from Public to Private is In Progress.
The IP policy badge beside IP Address displays the policy currently reflected by the Cloud Connector. For example, the badge continues to display Public while the requested policy is Private and the update is in progress.
The selected value under Update IP Policy displays the policy requested for the satellite terminal. In the case of the above example, it displays Private.
Wait for the update to synchronize. When the update completes, the information banner no longer appears and the IP policy badge displays the requested policy. In the above case, that is Private.
  7. After synchronization is complete, reopen the Update IP Policy drawer and confirm that the IP policy badge and selected value show the updated policy.
