Getting Started with the Trainer Environment
This section includes the following topics:
Accessing the Training Simulator Environment
The NTS will typically be based on your particular NMS implementation. Consequently, your system administrator will need to provide the details for accessing your NTS environment. Trainers will log in to the NTS environment as a Trainer user type, which will provide an enhanced version of the Web Workspace for an Administration user environment with additional tools for developing training scenarios and administering training sessions. Trainees will log in to an NTS workspace as a user type that is applicable for the simulation, such as the Full Operations plus Web Switching user type. For trainees, it should mimic the configuration and roles they would see in production.
Logging In as Trainer
1. To log in, enter the following information in the Login window:
User ID: enter the user name provided to you by your system administrator.
Password: enter the password provided to you by your system administrator.
Validate: click the Validate button to verify your login credentials.
Note: If your user name and password are not entered correctly, the system will display a "Login Error" message.
Once you have entered your user name and password, the Validate button will become activated.
2. Click Validate (or press Enter while in the password field) to validate your credentials.
3. Select Trainer from the User Type drop-down list.
The Web Workspace environment will launch with the extended trainer toolset. The Web Workspace Tools menu will have Trainer-specific options available if modification of any rule settings is needed; see Chapter 25, Configuration Assistant, for more information on using the Configuration Assistant.
