Configuring GIS Map Viewer

The GIS Map Viewer interfaces with Esri ArcGIS to present assets and work information on a geographic map. Refer to the GIS Map Viewer for information about GIS Map Viewer.

The following describes web map related configuration aspects of the GIS Map Viewer:
  • A web map consists of a base map plus optional feature layers and controls.

  • The default web map defined in the Esri Maps master configuration is displayed when GIS Map Viewer is initially launched.

  • Additional web maps may be configured in Esri, allowing the user to toggle between them.

  • Once defined in Esri, all web maps need to be registered in the Esri Web Maps Extendable Lookup.

  • When launched from specific portals that maintain an asset related entity, the default web map may be overridden for specific asset types. These overrides are defined in the Esri WAM Integration master configuration record.

The Drop Pin feature of the GIS Map Viewer allows a user to create a new work location for the purpose of creating work in that location. The work location business object to use is defined in the Esri WAM Integration master configuration record.
