Initiating Change Requests

A dashboard zone allows users to view or create a change request for the entity currently being displayed when at least one active change request type exists for such entity. For example, if a change request type exists for an asset then the dashboard zone would appear when an asset is displayed.

Note: Though the product comes with some “Change Request Related Object” extendable lookup values, you can still control which ones to enable by only creating the change request types for the ones you need.

Only one in-progress change request is allowed for a specific entity, for example a specific asset, therefore the button, when applicable, may only be available if such a request does not already exist. If the change request exists, a link to the in-progress request is provided, allowing any user to navigate to it and review the requested changes.

If there is no in-progress change request for that specific instance, a Create Change Request button is made available on the Dashboard for users with or without “Update” security access to that object.

By definition, this dashboard is not applicable to “General” change requests. Users need to use the menu to add such change requests.
