<Managing a Dataset>

After creating a new Dataset, you can perform the following operations from the Dataset Summary window:

  • View: You can view an existing individual Dataset definition details at any given point by selecting the checkbox adjacent to the required Dataset code and clicking View from the Datasets toolbar.

    The View Datasets window displays the details of the selected Dataset definition. The User Info grid at the bottom of the window displays the metadata information about the Dataset definition created along with the option to add comments.

    Note:

    You must have Dataset Read Only role mapped to view the Datasets.
  • Copy : To create a new Dataset definition based on the existing one, select the checkbox adjacent to the required Dataset code and click Copy from the Datasets toolbar.

    The Dataset definition details are copied and a confirmation message is displayed.

    Note:

    You can later modify the Dataset Code or Short Description, add/remove tables, and also define the join conditions. You must have Dataset Write role mapped to copy the Dataset definitions.
  • Modify : To modify an existing Dataset definition, select the checkbox adjacent to the required Dataset code and click Edit from the Datasets toolbar. Update the required details and Click Save .

    Note:

    You can update the existing Dataset definition details except for the Code and Short Description. You need to have Dataset Write role mapped to modify the Datasets.
  • Delete: To delete an existing Dataset, select the checkbox adjacent to the required Dataset code and click Delete from the Datasets toolbar. A confirmation dialog is displayed , click OK

    Note:

    Delete function permanently removes the Dataset from the database. Ensure that you have verified the details as indicated below:
    • You must have Dataset Write role mapped to delete Dataset definition(s) which are created by you and which are no longer required in the system.
    • A Dataset definition marked for deletion is not accessible for other users.
    • The authorizer has to Authorize/Reject every delete action.
      • On authorization, the Dataset details are removed.
      • On rejection, the Dataset details are reverted to an authorized state.
    • You cannot update Dataset details before authorizing/rejecting the deletion.
    • You can delete an unauthorized Business Measure definition.
