Defining Pattern Roles

Pattern roles specify the bound variables that are saved after creating a match. The system stores saved variables in the KDD_BREAK_BINDING table. It stores all instructions defined in the Pattern Roles Editor in the KDD_PTTRN_ROLE table.

To use variables for highlights, augmentation, or scoring, you must add them to Pattern Roles via the Pattern Roles Editor.

Defining highlights requires a format string; all highlight variables appear on the Alerts Display page in the order that you define them.
