Auth & Pay
Auth & Pay is the most basic card transaction. It authorizes the card and finalizes the card payment in one action. Merchants commonly use Auth & Pay in pay-at-counter environments or customer-facing flows such as Guest Pay.
Depending on your configuration, the POS user can charge the full check amount, enter a partial amount, add a tip before initiating the payment, or prompt the cardholder for a tip on the payment device. Auth & Pay can also support variations such as Restricted Auth & Pay, charity donations, cash back, and partial approval.
Charity donations and cash back are available only with Auth & Pay and are not available with Authorize, then Finalize. Cash back is not supported with Restricted Auth & Pay.
For general POS Operations steps, see the Oracle Simphony POS User Guide.
