Corporate Proxy or Wide Area Network (WAN)
Given the scale of the implementation, it is likely that a proxy solution for web filtering has been implemented at the corporate level.
All internet web traffic is routed through the corporate proxy configured at the workstation level. While this centralizes control, it can create a single point of failure and may also cause issues if valid websites are blocked or not explicitly permitted.
-
The proxy must be resilient.
-
Proxy configuration is required on each workstation.
-
The proxy must have whitelisting in place for all relevant URL endpoints.
Given the scale of the implementation, it is likely that a corporate WAN has been configured at the corporate level.
All network traffic will be routed through the corporate main office via MPLS or VPN, creating a private WAN. This setup ensures that all traffic follows the routing policies defined by the Corporate IT and Security teams.
-
The WAN must be resilient, as it could otherwise become a single point of failure.
-
WAN edge firewalls and proxies must be properly configured.
-
The proxy must have whitelisting for all relevant URL endpoints.
