3 Installing and Configuring P630 using USB to a Simphony Workstation Running Oracle Linux

For Verifone P630 support in Oracle Linux 7, use the P400_P630_OL7USB CAL package on MOS.

LinuxCAL package available for download on My Oracle Support. When connected by a USB cable, the P630 does not need a separate LAN cable because it shares the LAN connection with the workstation. Unlike the P400, the P630 requires a separate 9-12V power supply.

Installation Note:

Ensure the P630 is connected to the workstation via the USB cable with power injection (P/N 7624455) and the workstation is connected to the Internet via Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi.

Ethernet Cable Configuration (recommended):

  1. To bypass Wi-Fi, tap the gear, tap Network, tap Wi-Fi, tap Disable Wi-Fi, and then tap the back arrow.

  2. Tap Ethernet.

  3. Enable Ethernet by tapping/sliding the button to the right.

    Tap Static/disable DHCP.

  4. To enter Static IP Address information, touch the box next to IP Address and a touchscreen keypad will appear. Use the touch keypad instead of the device hard keypad.

  5. Enter the information as shown below:

    • IP Address: 192.168.137.2

    • Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

    • Router: 192.168.137.1

    • DNS – Preferred: The correct DNS for your network.

    • DNS – Alternate: The correct Alternate DNS for your network.

  6. You must enter an Alternate DNS. This is the DNS server that is accessible by the workstation which this payment device is currently attached to via USB. In this example, the DNS 192.168.1.1 is also used by the workstation. The default Alternate DNS of 8.8.8.8 should work in most cases. Note: DNS host 8.8.8.8 (and 8.8.4.4) is owned and run by Google.

  7. Tap the arrow/check mark on the bottom right, and then tap Save to get back to the Network menu.

  8. Tap the back arrow <, and then tap USB-Gadget.

  9. Enable Ethernet-RNDIS by tapping/sliding the button to the right. This will automatically disable the Ethernet option previously enabled.

  10. Exit settings.

Wi-Fi Configuration

  1. Tap Wi-Fi and enable Wi-Fi toggle switch.
  2. Select your Wi-Fi network.

  3. Tap the back arrow <, and then tap USB-Gadget.

  4. Enable Ethernet-RNDIS by tapping/sliding the button to the right. This will automatically disable the Ethernet option previously enabled, but those settings will still apply.

  5. Exit settings.
