Deleting a dictionary

Deleted dictionaries cannot be revived or reactivated. When you delete a dictionary, all synonym lists, coding definitions, assignment rules, and requests entered against the dictionary become invalid and cannot be retrieved.

Caution: Oracle recommends that you do not remove the dictionary schema or delete a dictionary that has been used for coding. Delete only dictionaries that you have set up but have not coded against.

  1. Select Start > Apps > Dictionary Loader.

The Dictionary Loader dialog box appears.

  2. Select a connection and connect to the database.

For more information, see Connecting to the database.

  3. Make sure that you have removed the schema for the dictionary that you want to delete.

For more information, see Removing a dictionary schema.

  4. Select the Dictionaries node for the active connection.
  5. Select a dictionary.
  6. Select Dictionary > Delete.

    A confirmation dialog box appears.

  7. Click Yes.
  8. If prompted, enter the user name and password for the dictionary database administrator, and click OK.
