Running impact analysis
As part of the impact analysis process, you perform an impact assessment on the coding definition to use with the new dictionary version.
Use this procedure to:
- Compare the code values associated with the coding definition in use to the code values associated with the new coding definition.
- Reconcile any changes in code values.
- Select Coding Setup > Coding Definitions.
The Coding Definitions page appears.
- Select Actions > Run Impact Analysis.
The Choose Source And Target Coding Definitions dialog box appears.
- Specify the coding definitions to compare:
- Source Coding Definition Name—The coding definition for the original dictionary version.
- Target Coding Definition Name—The coding definition for the new dictionary version.
- To autoreconcile term changes between the original and new dictionary versions at each dictionary level, select Auto Reconcile Terms. You must then manually reconcile the codes on the Reconcile Verbatims page.
Note: The application autoreconciles the terms in the new coding definition even if the Requires Reconciliation option is selected for an element on the Element Configuration page.
- Click OK.
The In Process page appears. For a description of the fields on this page, see In Process page.
- Do one of the following:
- If there are code differences between the dictionary versions, the Step column displays the Reconcile status.
Reconcile the verbatims, approve the changes, and save them to the database.
For more information, see Reconciling a verbatim and Saving verbatim changes to the database.
- If there are no code differences between the dictionary versions, the Step column displays the Update status.
Update the verbatims based on the descriptions in Saving verbatim changes to the database.
To view the updated status of the verbatims, run the Impact Analysis Report. For more information, see Running the Impact Analysis Report.
- If there are code differences between the dictionary versions, the Step column displays the Reconcile status.
