Pause a participant's participation

You can pause the daily update messages for participants who cannot provide daily updates or need to stop for a set amount of time. For example, the participant can call the organization help desk and request this action.

When pausing a participant, you must enter both the start and end date of the pause. During the pause period, participants do not receive invitations or any daily requests for status updates. But, they do receive messages about new test results (if any).
To pause invitations and daily updates for a participant:
  1. Along the top, select the Participants tab.
  2. In the list of participants, locate the participant who needs to pause participation.

    Tip:

    You can find the participant by typing their name, external identifier, or email address in the filter above the list of participants.
  3. Select the participant's name.
  4. Below the participant's name, select Pause Participation.
  5. Enter the start and end date for the pause. The dates are inclusive. For instance, if the start date is on a Monday, the participant doesn't receive the daily request on that Monday.
  6. Enter a reason for the pause and select Pause Participation.
On the first day of the pause period, the participant's status changes to Paused Participation. After the pause period completes, the participant's status returns to the status assigned to the participant before the pause.
