Topic workflow configuration design

A topic workflow configuration defines how the topics feature works in the application, including the fields that store topic information and the workflow states that you can assign to track progress. You can set up topic workflow configurations and the topic feature to accommodate your organization's processes. Users with the Manage Topic Workflow Configurations permission can work with topic workflow configurations.

The following list represents customizable areas of a topic workflow configurations:

  • User settings
  • Topic fields
  • Topic field values
  • Workflow states for topic states and action states
  • Topic field accessibility and action field accessibility by states
  • Attachment field accessibility by types
  • Email notification rules
  • Topic templates

These definitions affect the appearance and behavior of the user interface for using topics.

A Sample Topic Workflow Configuration is provided with Oracle Empirica Signal. Use it as a starting point when you design a configuration by copying and editing it. You can also review the definitions in the Sample Topic Workflow Configuration and base your design on them. The Sample Topic Workflow Configuration itself should not be edited.

Note:

Changes to a topic workflow configuration that is already in use are not recommended.

In addition, you can prepare topic features by defining the access permissions to the Oracle Empirica Signal users. For more information, see Set up the topics feature.
