Set up Oracle Empirica Topics

Oracle Empirica Topics is configured by an administrator who performs several tasks. A sequential outline of those tasks is based on the sample topic workflow configuration delivered with the application.

To perform the steps in this outline, an administrator must have been assigned the Manage Topic Workflow Configurations and Administer Users permissions. To add the work team fields, it is also necessary to have Superuser permission.

  1. Make a copy of the Sample Topic Workflow Configuration supplied with Oracle Empirica Signal as the basis for a new topic workflow configuration. For more information, see Copy a topic workflow configuration.

    Note:

The Sample Topic Workflow Configuration should not be edited.
  2. Edit the new topic workflow configuration.

Your design can be based on the Sample Topic Workflow Configuration. For more information, see Definitions in the sample topic workflow configuration.

  3. Publish the new topic workflow configuration to your login group. For more information, see Publish objects.
  4. Edit your login group to select the new topic workflow configuration as its Topic Workflow Configuration setting. For more information, see Edit a login group.
  5. Create one or more work teams for your login group. A work team can contain all of the users in a given login group, or a specified subset of those users. For more information, see Add/edit a work team.
  6. If you created work teams, assign work team permissions to each work team member.
  7. If your topic workflow configuration includes any fields with a context of work team, a Superuser must set the Topic workflow configuration for work team custom fields site option.
  8. For each of the users in the login group (or work team), including yourself, edit the user account to grant the View Topics permission. For more information, see Add and edit a user and User permissions.
  9. Log out of the application, and then log in again. The Topics page is now available to you.

Users who were already logged in when you granted the View Topics permission must log out of the application and log in again.

If the topic workflow configuration defines application data results as an allowed attachment type, the Save to Topic link also appears above tables, graphs, report output, and other Oracle Empirica Signal objects.
