Reply to a Message
You can reply to a message.
To reply to a message:
- Complete one of the following steps to open the response details:
- Open the message to which you want to reply.
- From the items list, find the message, then select Reply.
- Select Edit Details to update the information in the To, Provider, and Subject boxes.
- Enter your message text, or select Generate Response to add an AI-generated response. Ensure that you review and update the generated text as necessary.
Note:
The Generate Response button is available only when you reply to messages associated with a prescription or results. When you send a new message to a patient or provider from an open inbox item, the communication encounter to which the message is added depends on the open item type.To directly mention someone in your message, press the at symbol (@) to search for and select their name. Once selected, the person is added to the message recipient list if they were not previously added.
- (Optional) Apply the following text formatting:
- Font style
- Bold
- Italic
- Underline
- (Optional) Select High Priority.
- (Optional) Complete the following steps to add an attachment:
- Select Add Attachments.
- Complete one of the following steps:
- Select Generate TOC, select the appropriate encounter, then select Generate.
- Select Upload From Device and select your file.
Note:
The following file formats are supported:- .JPG
- .JPEG
- .PNG
- .BMP
- .GIF
- .TIFF
A total file size of up to 50 MB is supported.
- Select Include Patient if you want to send your message to the associated patient.
Note:
If the message to which you are replying included the patient, then Include Patient is automatically selected. Deselect Include Patient if you do not want to send your message to the associated patient. - Select one of the following buttons:
- Send: The message is sent and it stays in the associated category of your inbox.
- Send and Delete: The message is sent and is displayed in your inbox only when the Deleted status filter is applied.
- Send and Complete Conversation: The message is sent, members can no longer reply, and the message is displayed in your inbox only when the Deleted status filter is applied.
- Back: The message is not sent and the patient's relevant inbox information is displayed. If you added response text before you selected Back, the message is saved as a draft.
- Close: If you close the tab, the message is not sent and you return to the previously opened tab. If you added response text before you closed the tab, the message is saved as a draft.
Note:
When you reply to a message that was initiated by the patient, the message is added to the communication encounter at the location of the patient's most recent visit with the responsible provider.
