Configuring Room Pool Mapping

Room Pools allow you group room types into generic categories. Often the inventory room types are too specific for what is required by sales agents creating opportunities for inquiry (leads) blocks; room pools provide a way to simplify this. For example, you might create a room pool for STD: Standard and map all the inventory rooms types that fit this description, say Kings and Doubles, to room pool of "STD". When a sales agent books five STD rooms in a block, they actually book five rooms that are either Kings or Doubles.

If existing room type mapping is modified a room pool synchronization is automatically run to update the room types for existing room inventory for opportunities, blocks, master and sub blocks and master allocations and sub allocations.

Editing Room Types to Room Pool Mapping

  1. From the Administration menu, select Inventory, select  Accommodation Management then select Room Pool Mapping.

  2. Enter search criteria, then click Search.

  3. Click Edit and enter the following details for each room type:

    1. Room Pool: Select a Room Pool from the list. For more information, see Configuring Room Pools 

    2. Restricted: Select check box to force rooms to be allocated using inventory room types in the Room and Rate Grid. For more information, see Managing Block Room and Rate Grid

    3. Sequence: Defines the order in which room inventory will be allocated to the room types.

  4. Click Save.
