Upgrade Rules

Prerequisites for Upgrade Rules

Upgrade Rules enable you to configure the rules for calculating the reservation upgrade amounts. Rules define the date period, lead time, to/from room types and reservation filters, the upgrade pricing calculation and the sales charge transaction code to be used to post the upgrade revenue.

Prior to configuring upgrade rules, ensure you have configured the upgrade room class and room type hierarchies.

You can then upgrade a reservation during the reservation creation, during update or during check-in.

Note:

Reservations associated with a block are eligible for upgrade whether or not they have a rate code associated with them.

You cannot upgrade reservations under the following conditions:

  • The reservation status is Checked In, Cancelled, No Show, or Waitlist.

  • The reservation has a fixed rate. This is only available if the Allow Fixed Rate Reservations parameter is active under the Reservations group in OPERA Controls.

  • The reservation is a shared reservation.

  • The reservation already has rate discounts applied. This is only available if the Allow Reservation Discounts parameter is active under the Reservations group in OPERA Controls.

  • The reservation has multiple rate codes.
