2 Getting Started with Administration
Oracle Retail Home provides administrative functionality through a set of configuration areas accessible from the user interface. Administrative configuration determines how Retail Home appears and behaves for end users.
For example:
- Applications configured in Application Administration appear in the Application Navigator
- Dashboards and tiles configured in Dashboards and Reports determine what users see on the Home Dashboard
- Notifications configured in Configurations and Integrations control alerts displayed to users
This chapter describes how to access and navigate the administrative features in Retail Home.
Accessing Administrative Features
Administrative functions are available through Settings Menu in the Legacy UI and the Ask Oracle menu in new Redwood theme, which provides a centralized entry point to all configuration areas.

Navigating Using Ask Oracle
To access administrative features:
The available options depend on the roles assigned to the user.
Product Map View
The Product Map view organizes administrative functionality into tiles. Each tile represents a functional area of configuration.
The primary administrative tiles include:
- Application Administration
- Dashboards & Reports
- Configurations & Integrations
- Resource Bundles
Selecting a tile displays the available configuration options within that area.

Suggestions View
The Suggestions view displays configuration options as a list of entries with descriptions.
Each entry represents a configuration page or feature. Administrators can:
- Review available options with descriptive context
- Select an entry to navigate directly to the corresponding configuration page
Suggestions are role-based and may vary depending on access permissions.

Using Search
Administrators can also locate configuration pages using search.
- Enter a keyword (for example, Dashboard Configuration or Application Navigator)
- Select the desired result to navigate directly to the page
Search is useful when the exact location of a configuration option is not known.

Administrative features in Retail Home are grouped into the following areas in Ask Oracle.
Application Administration:
Provides configuration options for managing applications and related integrations.
Includes:
- Application Navigator Setup
- Application Dashboard
- Customer Modules Management
- Manage OAuth Clients
Dashboards and Reports
Provides configuration options for dashboards and reporting components.
Includes:
- Dashboard Configuration
- Custom Reports
- Custom Banner Messages
Resource Bundles
Provides options for managing localization and UI text.
Includes:
- Resource Text Strings
- Import Resource Texts
- Manage Role Labels
Configurations and Integrations
Provides system-level configuration and integration settings.
Includes:
- Manage Notifications
- Integration Status
- Application Properties
- Import/Export
- Interface Settings
Role-Based Access to Configuration
Access to administrative features is controlled through roles.
- Depending on assigned roles
- Certain tiles may not be visible
- Some configuration pages may be restricted
- Available actions may vary
Administrators must ensure that appropriate roles are assigned to users who require access to configuration features. Refer to the Oracle Retail Home Security Guide for more details.
