Export Portals

Use the Export Portals pane to export one or more portals. Use this facility to back up or move content between WebCenter Portal installations and stage or production environments. Data from a single portal or multiple portals is exported to a single portal archive (.par file). More

Element Description

Portal Name

Lists the portals selected for export.

Click Delete icon to remove a portal.

Portal Archive

Optionally, enter a new name for the archive (the file extension must be.par).

The default file name contains a random number to ensure uniqueness: webcenter_number.par

Include Portal Content

Select to include each portal's content folder in the portal archive.

A folder is automatically created in WebCenter Portal's content repository for portals to create, manage, and store portal documents (files, folders, wikis, blogs). Only content that is stored in this folder can be exported with the portal. The export does not, for example, include web content or pages displayed through Content Presenter because this information is not stored in the portal's Content folder.

Some browsers have settings that restrict the size of downloads. If your export archive is large and does not download, check your browser settings.

Include Shared Assets

Select to include all the shared assets in the portal archive.

Export

Click to export the selected portals.

After the export is complete, you can download the archive to your local machine or save the archive to a server location.

Download

Click to save the export archive to your local file system.

Your browser downloads and saves the archive locally to the specified location.

Save to Server

Click to open the Save to Server dialog. Enter a location in Archive Location, for example, /tmp, and then click Save.

Make sure that you have write permissions on the server directory you specify here.
