Membership Options

Use the Membership Options dialog to set membership-related options for the portal. The settings in this dialog are available to the portal manager (or members with the Manage Membership permission).

The Membership Options dialog is arranged in the following sections:

Invite Options

The Invite Options section of the Membership Options dialog enables portal managers to specify permission to invite other WebCenter Portal users to join the portal. More

Tip:

This section appears only when WebCenter Portal workflows and the SOA connection to the BPM worklist are configured.

Element Description

Allow Invitations to Join Portal

Select to allow the portal manager (or members with Administration-Manage Membership permission) to invite other WebCenter Portal users to join the portal. Deselect this option to disallow invitations to join the portal.

Membership Self-Service

The Membership Self-Service section of the Membership Options dialog enables managers to establish policies for self-service membership in the portal. More

Join

Select one of the following: More

  • Do Not Allow Self-Service Membership or Self-Service Membership Change to prevent non-members from joining the portal and members requesting changes to their current membership.

  • Allow Self-Service Membership or Self-Service Membership Change (All Roles Available) to allow non-members to join the portal and members to request changes to their current membership.

    When you select this option, any WebCenter Portal user can join the portal, and subsequently change their role in the portal, or cancel their membership.

    If shown, select Portal Manager Approval Required to specify that manager approval is required before the request is granted. This check box displays only when WebCenter Portal workflows are configured.

  • Allow Self-Service Membership or Self-Service Membership Change (Selected Roles Available) to specify which roles users see on Request Membership and Change Membership pages. The table lists all the roles available:

    Select Enable to offer the role for selection. Deselect Enable to hide a role.

    If shown, select Approval Required to specify that manager approval is required before the request is granted. This check box displays only when WebCenter Portal workflows are configured.

Remove

If shown, select Manager Approval Required for Self-Service Membership Removal to specify that the portal manager must approve any unsubscription requests. This check box only displays when WebCenter Portal workflows are configured. More

Membership Notification Messages

The Membership Notification Messages section of the Membership Options dialog enables managers to compose notification messages for new and invited members. More

Element Description

Add Member Message

Enter a short message to include in membership notifications. Use the message text to welcome new members and introduce your portal.

Invite Member Message

Enter a short message to include in membership invitations to users who are registered with WebCenter Portal. Use the message text to describe the portal and how it might be of use to them.

This option displays only when WebCenter Portal workflows and the SOA server are configured for the application. Membership invitations display in a user's worklist (if the SOA server is configured to use BPM Worklist) and the invitation includes an Accept button that the invited party must click to accept the membership invitation.

Invite Non-Registered Users Message

Enter a short message to include in membership invitations to people who are not registered WebCenter Portal users. Use the message text to describe the portal and how it might be of use to them.

Membership invitations are sent by mail. The invitation includes a secure URL that the invited party must click to register with WebCenter Portal before gaining access to your portal.
