Import Portals

Use the Import Portals pane to import one or more portals from a portal archive (.par file). If a portal already exists, then it is deleted and replaced. If a portal does not exist, then it is created. More

Element Description

Look On My Computer

Select if the .par file is located on your local file system.

Click Browse to locate the directory on the local file system where the .par file is stored. Click Update to browse for another archived file (the Update button appears after you select the file to import and click Browse Archive).

Look On WebCenter Portal Server

Select if the .par file is located on a server, then enter the path, including the archive filename. For example, /tmp/MyPortalExport.par.

This can be any shared location accessible from WebCenter Portal.

Browse Archive

Click to review the portals in the archive before import.

Include Portal Content

(Only displays if the archive specified includes a built-in content folder for one or more portals.)

Select to import all content folders included in the archive. Folders that exist on the target are overwritten on import.

Deselect this option to exclude portal content folders (if any). This is useful when migrating between stage and production environments where test content is no longer required.

Include Shared Assets

Select to import all shared assets, like skin or page templates, used in the portal (s).

Deselect this option if you do not want to import shared assets.

Note: The import process does not move data associated with other external services such as mail. To learn how to move data associated with these services, refer to documentation for that product.

Import

Click to start importing the selected portal(s). Click Yes to confirm the import operation.

The Import Portals dialog displays status of the import operation.
