Supported Linux Operating Systems

Oracle Server X7-8 supports the following Linux operating systems at the initial release of the servers.

Linux OS Version Edition Oracle Linux Oracle Linux 6.9 and 7.3 OS for x86 (64-bit) with the Oracle Unbreakable Kernel Release 4 Note -  Optionally, you can install the Red Hat Compatible Kernel on Oracle Linux 6.9 and 7.3 OS for x86 (64-bit).

If the Linux OS is installed on your server but you do not want to use it, you can install any other supported operating system or virtual machine software on your server. The Oracle Linux Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) identifies the latest operating system versions supported on Oracle hardware.
