Create Templates and Profiles

The following sections provide an example configuration to protect the VMs in the environment.

To start protecting the VMs in the Oracle Cloud VMware Solution environment by using Actifio, you need to create templates and profiles.
  • A template defines the lifecycle (or the flow) for the data copies
  • A profile defines the location of the data copies

To create a template, navigate to the SLA Architect and click Create Template. Depending on your use cases, you can create several templates. The following are example templates to show the integration with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure services.

To create a profile, go to the Profiles tab in the SLA Architect and define the appliances and pools.

Back Up Data to a Snapshot Pool and Archive it to Object Storage

You plan to use File Storage as the initial location for the data copies and then move the copies to Object Storage (Standard tier) for long-term retention according to your policy and schedule.

  1. Select each tile as required and click the plus sign (+) that connects the tiles to define the specifics for the policy.
  2. Create a policy for the movement of data from Production to the Snapshot Pool. Define the schedule and retention period, along with other details.
  3. Create another policy to move the snapshot data to the OnVault Pool.

Back Up Data Directly to Object Storage

You use Object Storage (Standard tier) and copy data directly to Object Storage.

  1. Create a policy for the movement of data from Production directly to the OnVault Pool. Define the schedule and retention period, along with other details.
  2. To create a profile, go to the Profiles tab in the SLA Architect and define the appliances and pools.
